About the Job
As a Teaching Assessor – Residential Childcare, you will support learners undertaking Children, Young People & Families qualifications and apprenticeship programmes, helping them develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to succeed in the sector.
You will deliver a combination of teaching, coaching, assessment, and learner support across programmes including Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare and Level 4/5 Children, Young People & Families Apprenticeship Standards.
Working closely with learners, employers, and internal teams, you will ensure high-quality delivery that supports achievement, progression, and professional development.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage a caseload of learners across residential childcare qualifications and apprenticeship programmes
* Deliver engaging teaching, coaching, assessment, and progress review sessions through remote and workplace delivery
* Support learners through their qualification journey and preparation for End Point Assessment (EPA)
* Create personalised learning plans aligned with learner and employer needs
* Assess learner evidence and maintain accurate records using electronic portfolio systems
* Provide ongoing guidance, feedback, and mentoring to support learner achievement
* Work collaboratively with employers to monitor progress and identify development opportunities
* Embed safeguarding, Prevent, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion, and British Values into learning delivery
* Support learners with additional needs, including SEND and vulnerable learners
* Maintain compliance with funding requirements, Ofsted expectations, and quality standards
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for an experienced Residential Childcare professional, Teaching Assessor, Trainer, or Tutor who is passionate about developing others and improving outcomes for children and young people.
You will have:
* Strong occupational experience within Residential Childcare, Children’s Homes, Supported Accommodation, Residential Special Schools, or related children’s services
* Experience supporting children and young people aged 6–25 years
* Experience delivering training, coaching, mentoring, or assessment within a care environment
* Teaching qualification at Level 5 or equivalent
* Strong knowledge of Children, Young People & Families qualifications and apprenticeship standards
* Understanding of safeguarding, Ofsted requirements, and quality assurance processes
* Experience supporting learners with different abilities, including SEND and vulnerable learners
* Excellent communication, organisation, and relationship-building skills
* Ability to manage a learner caseload and support achievement targets
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel when required
Desirable Experience:
* Assessor qualification such as TAQA, CAVA, A1, D32/D33 or equivalent
* Experience delivering Level 4 and Level 5 Apprenticeship Standards
* Experience within apprenticeship delivery or government-funded training
* Internal Quality Assurance qualification
