On behalf of our Client we are seeking a talented and creative Sous Chef to join their busy staff canteen. High standards of presentation, cleanliness and a great attitude is key to this role as this is a customer facing job. Our client is proud to offer their staff and visitors complimentary Breakfast, Lunch & Afternoon tea, all handmade in their canteen just outside of the City Centre.
Key responsibilities include and are not limited to;
* Daily baking, and salad preparation for the various lunch shifts, and washing up in accordance with the company break time requirements and schedules.
* Creation of menu writing to include dishes for ‘allergy-based products’.
* Promote good customer and staff relations.
* Achieve and maintain high standards of cleanliness & presentation.
* Assist the Catering Manager in ensuring the on-site restaurant is suitably stocked and all dietary requirements of the staff are considered.
* In the Catering Managers absence, lead the kitchen and undertake duties such as food ordering, budgeting, and training temp staff as and when required.
* Follow recipes in line with allergen awareness.
* To report any concerns or issues to the Catering Manager immediately for action e.g. broken equipment.
* To respond to complaints and compliments; listen to feedback from visitors or staff and ensure that it is used positively to influence and develop the organisation and its activities.
* Keep up with trends and seasonal ingredients, using fresh produce.
* To undertake cleaning and ensure all aspects of equipment and production area meet FSA guidelines.
* Ensure that all duties are completed in the time provided to a high standard in guidance with Health and Safety and Health and Hygiene.
* To undertake other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the position of Sous Chef as required by the Catering Manager.
Skills and Attributes
* Previous experience in a catering or hospitality environment
* Excellent communication and customer care skills, with a customer centred approach to service
* Awareness of relevant legislation; Food Hygiene, Health & Safety. Allergen Awareness
* Up to date Food Hygiene Certificate or willingness to undertake training
* Good teamwork skills
* Self-motivated, committed and enthusiastic with the ability to work under pressure
* A flexible attitude to business requirements and duties
This is a permanent role with an immediate start date for the right candidate. The role offers a salary of £27,000 per annum and requires the successful candidate to work 37.5 hours a week (7.00am – 3.00pm Monday to Friday). No split shifts or late nights/ weekends required.
