This is a part-time role:

1 shunter every Sunday (11am start).

1 shunter every Saturday (18:00 start) & 1 Shunter every Sunday (21:00 start).

We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Shunter to join our operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for moving vehicles, trailers, or rail wagons within the yard, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

* Safely manoeuvre vehicles/trailers within the yard or depot

* Couple and uncouple trailers or wagons as required

* Conduct pre-use safety checks on vehicles and equipment

* Ensure loads are secure and compliant with safety standards

* Maintain clear communication with transport and warehouse teams

* Follow site procedures, health & safety regulations, and traffic management plans

* Report any defects, incidents, or hazards promptly

* Assist with general yard duties as required

Requirements

* Valid driving licence (Class C/CE preferred for HGV shunting roles)

* Previous experience in a similar shunting or yard role is advantageous

* Good understanding of health & safety practices

* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

* Strong communication and teamwork skills

* Flexibility to work shifts, including nights or weekends if required

Desirable Skills

* Shunter or yard operative certification

* Experience with coupling systems and yard management systems

* Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge
