School Caretaker

We are seeking a reliable, practical and proactive School Caretaker to join our secondary school in Barking and Dagenham. This is a vital role in ensuring the school site is safe, secure and well maintained for students, staff and visitors.
The Role:
As School Caretaker, you will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, security and upkeep of the school premises. You will work closely with school leadership and external contractors to ensure a clean, safe and welcoming environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Opening and closing the school site and ensuring site security
Carrying out basic maintenance, repairs and health & safety checks
Monitoring and maintaining cleanliness of the school grounds
Setting up rooms for events, exams and meetings
Liaising with contractors and reporting maintenance issues
Ensuring compliance with health & safety and safeguarding procedures
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
Has previous caretaking, facilities or maintenance experience (school experience desirable)
Is practical, reliable and able to work independently
Has a good understanding of health & safety requirements
Is flexible and willing to support school events outside normal hours when required
Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
