Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a well-established planning consultancy in their search for a Graduate Planner to join their growing team in Manchester.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Planner to gain hands-on experience across a variety of projects, including residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments. The successful candidate will receive excellent training and mentoring within a collaborative and forward-thinking environment, helping to develop both technical skills and client-facing experience.
THE ROLE
As a Graduate Planner, you will support project teams in delivering planning applications from initial appraisal through to submission and determination. You will assist on smaller schemes while learning from senior team members on larger, more complex projects. This role offers the chance to work across different sectors and gain exposure to all stages of the planning process, ensuring you develop into a well-rounded planning professional.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assisting with the preparation of planning applications and supporting documents
Conducting site appraisals and planning policy research
Liaising with Local Planning Authorities and other stakeholders
Supporting senior planners on larger, more complex schemes
Attending client meetings and project discussions
Helping with project coordination and delivery
Supporting business development and networking activitiesThe Graduate Planner will work closely with experienced team members to gain valuable insight into planning strategies, policies, and procedures. You will also have the opportunity to engage with clients, contributing to the successful delivery of projects and helping to build strong professional relationships.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
RTPI accredited degree in Town Planning or related discipline
Working towards MRTPI or early career planners
Some experience within a planning consultancy or local authority desirable
Good understanding of the UK planning system
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
