Looking to get your foot in the door of building services design, or make the jump from the tools into an office? This could be a good one.

My client is a well established building services consultancy with over 20 years in the industry, four UK offices and around 80 staff. They cover MEP, sustainability, building physics and BIM under one roof. They're known for sustainable, low carbon design and are now looking to add a Graduate / Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer to their Nottingham team.

The role suits either an electrical engineering graduate or an electrician who wants to move into design. They're not looking for someone who knows everything. They want someone with the right attitude, and they'll teach you the rest.

The Role

You'll work alongside experienced electrical designers on projects across a range of sectors, from feasibility through to fully coordinated designs for installation (RIBA Stages 0 to 5). Your main focus will be LV distribution, lighting, small power, and fire and security systems. You'll get full support on design software including Amtech and Relux.

Day to day, you'll be:

Designing, sizing and selecting electrical systems using calculation software
Building sustainable technologies into electrical designs
Producing 3D models, drawings, specifications and reports
Preparing load calculations and applying for utility connections
Coordinating designs with mechanical engineers and Revit Technicians
Working to industry design guides, British Standards and Building Regulations
Attending client, design team and project meetings
Carrying out feasibility studies and site surveys

About You

A degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (or equivalent), OR an apprentice trained electrician with City & Guilds qualifications
Confident with Microsoft Office, mainly Word, Excel and Outlook
Willing to learn Amtech, Relux, Revit and AutoCAD
Keen to build a long term career in building services
Happy to ask questions, organised and detail focused
A team player who can also get on with things independently

The Business

This is a business that invests in its people. Training is delivered in house by experienced engineers. They'll also support you through college (HNC, HND or degree) and mentor you towards professional membership with the IET and CIBSE.

What's on offer:

33 days holiday (25 plus 8 statutory)
Healthcare scheme covering optical, dental and more
Life and critical illness cover
Contributory pension
Cycle to work scheme
Full support for personal and professional development
Easily accessible office with good public transport links
Regular team socials and eventsIf this sounds like the right next step, or you know someone it would suit, drop me a message or give me a call for a confidential chat.
