Cyber Security Engineer
Deep Sea Electronics Ltd (DSE) are a leading UK electronics manufacture specialising in development of advanced control and automation products for the power generation and off highway vehicle markets. Our range of solutions include connected devices that are subject to the latest cybersecurity standards.
The Cyber Security Engineer will support the cyber security aspects of our products, working under the guidance of the Senior Cyber Security Manager. They will work closely with cross functional teams including engineering, operations and commercial to help ensure products meet regulatory compliance and industry best practices.
The Cyber Security Engineer is responsible for:
* Contributing to the development and maintenance of cybersecurity strategy and policies across DSE's product range
* Working with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with cybersecurity regulations, including the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA).
* Supporting cybersecurity initiatives within product roadmaps
* Assisting with the identification, assessment, and mitigation of cybersecurity risks
* Preparing documentation to support compliance with IEC 62443 and related standards
* Ensuring ongoing alignment with industrial cybersecurity regulations and frameworks
* Collaborating with engineering teams to integrate security into product design and architecture
* Promoting secure software development and secure-by-design principles
* Supporting vulnerability assessments, threat modelling, and penetration testing activities
* Assisting with secure remote access, network security, and communication protocol implementation
* Supporting cybersecurity incident response and continuous security improvement
* Sharing cybersecurity knowledge, best practices, and emerging threat awareness across the business
* Supporting engagement with customers and regulatory bodies on cybersecurity requirements
Requirements:
* Good knowledge of C/C++ for embedded systems
* Understanding of cybersecurity development processes and risk assessment techniques
* Knowledge of encryption, key storage, secure boot, trust zones, and security protocols
* Familiarity with RED and Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) regulations
* Knowledge of automotive cybersecurity standards R155, R156, and ISO 21434
* Experience working within stage-gated and Agile development environments
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical teams and senior stakeholders
* Ability to contribute pragmatically to cyber risk analysis and mitigation activities
* Experience producing technical specifications from business and regulatory requirements
* Background in embedded systems cybersecurity and working to high quality standards
* Degree qualified in Computer Science or a related discipline
