We are currently recruiting a Care Assistant for our client based in Plymouth.
We are looking for a compassionate, reliable and dedicated Care Assistant to join our residential care team supporting older people, including individuals living with dementia. You will provide high-quality person-centred care, promote independence and help residents maintain their dignity, wellbeing and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide safe, compassionate and person-centred care to older people, including residents living with dementia.
* Support residents with personal care, including washing, dressing, toileting and mobility.
* Build positive and trusting relationships with residents, families and colleagues.
* Act as a Keyworker, ensuring individual care needs, preferences and wellbeing are appropriately supported.
* Communicate effectively with residents, relatives and other professionals.
* Organise and participate in meaningful activities that promote residents’ wellbeing and independence.
* Complete accurate daily records, care notes and reports in line with care home procedures.
* Follow safeguarding, health and safety, infection control and confidentiality procedures.
* Promote dignity, choice, independence and equality at all times.
* Recognise and report any changes in residents’ physical, emotional or behavioural needs.
Essential Requirements
* Minimum 6 months’ experience working in residential care for older people, ideally with experience supporting people living with dementia.
* Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care, NVQ Level 3 in Care/Social Care, or equivalent.
* Knowledge and understanding of dementia care and person-centred support.
* Understanding of the basic principles of care.
* Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
* Ability to write clear and accurate care reports and maintain appropriate records.
* Experience or understanding of organising and supporting activities for residents.
* Ability to provide personal care while maintaining dignity and respect.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
