Marcher Stone is a specialist memorial masonry business, designing, manufacturing and installing high-quality memorials for families across the local area.
We are looking for a reliable, practical person to join the business on a part-time basis, working 2–3 days per week.
This is a hands-on role combining workshop-based manufacturing with outdoor installation work. Previous experience in memorial masonry isn't essential – we're looking for someone with the right attitude, who enjoys practical work and can be trained in the specialist skills involved.
The role will include:
* Removing and preparing existing memorial stones
* Assisting with the manufacture and preparation of new memorials
* Sandblasting and finishing stone
* Learning to operate CNC machinery
* Preparing memorials ready for installation
* Travelling to cemeteries and customer sites
* Fitting, fixing and erecting memorial stones
* Loading, unloading and safely handling heavy materials
* Maintaining a high standard of workmanship and attention to detail
* Supporting with general workshop and site duties
What we're looking for
We're particularly interested in someone who is:
* Reliable and trustworthy
* Practical and comfortable working with their hands
* Physically fit and capable of undertaking heavy work
* Happy working outdoors in different weather conditions
* Quality-focused with good attention to detail
* Willing to learn new skills
* Comfortable working independently once fully trained
* Professional and respectful when representing the business
* In possession of a full UK driving licence
Previous experience within groundworks, construction, landscaping, kerb setting, highways, stonework or another practical trade would be useful but isn't essential.
What you'll get
You'll work directly alongside an experienced memorial mason and learn a specialist trade covering both traditional practical skills and modern manufacturing techniques, including sandblasting and CNC machinery.
For the right person, there is an opportunity to become a trusted part of a small business, develop your skills and take on greater responsibility as your experience grows.
This would particularly suit someone looking for 2–3 days of regular work each week who takes genuine pride in producing a high-quality finished job
