Team Leader - Residential Children’s Care and Education - Preston

We are seeking a dedicated Team Leader / Senior Support Worker to join a reputable organisation operating within the residential care sector in the Preston area of Lancashire. This role offers an excellent opportunity to lead a team in an Ofsted-registered children’s home, supporting young people aged 8 to 18 years with Autistic Spectrum Conditions and other associated complex needs.
Key Responsibilities
As a Team Leader, you will oversee the daily operations of the residential setting, ensuring the delivery of personalised care and education programmes. You will supervise staff teams, promote safeguarding best practices, and work closely with education and clinical staff to provide a multidisciplinary approach. Your leadership will foster a positive environment that encourages inclusion, independence, and personal development for all young people.
Supporting the implementation of care plans aligned with regional regulatory standards, such as Ofsted and safeguarding policies, will be central to your role. You will facilitate activities and programmes that promote social skills, emotional well-being, and life skills, helping prepare young people for their future.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will hold relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Children’s Care or equivalent, along with substantial experience of working in residential care environments with children and young people. Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and associated complex needs is essential. Previous experience in a supervisory or team-leading position within the care sector, coupled with a good understanding of safeguarding and legislation, is required.
Excellent communication skills, resilience, and a proactive approach are vital for success in this role. The ideal candidate will be passionate about making a positive impact on young lives while maintaining high standards of organisation and compliance.
Skills and Attributes
