Role Overview and Setting

Location: Cranleigh

Service Type: Specialist education community for students aged 5 to 19 with severe social communication difficulties and complex learning needs.

Environment: Set within a large private acreage, this role focuses on helping students develop essential life skills using multi-sensory approaches.

Purpose: To provide a supportive and patient learning environment where students with complex disabilities can work toward independence.

Working Days

Tues-Thurs - 8:30-16:15

Salary and Benefits Package

Salary and Progression Teaching Assistant salary (pro rata for term time, 39 weeks + CPD days):

• £20,224 - £21,032 (£23,580 - £24,521 FTE)

• Rising to £21,851 - £23,999 (£25,476 - £27,981 FTE) for Senior Teaching Assistant after completing the apprenticeship (funded by us) and two years with the Trust.

You can also progress to Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) roles:

• Unqualified HLTA: £23,999 (£27,981 FTE)

• Qualified HLTA: £27,715 (£32,313 FTE). All salaries include the 2025 cost-of-living increase (effective April 1 st, 2025).

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Student Support: Assist learners with severe social communication challenges and complex learning disabilities in their daily education.

Specialist Techniques: Use multi-sensory communication methods such as Makaton to aid learning and student engagement. Life Skills: Support students in developing practical life skills and achieving personal independence.

Safety and Welfare: Maintain a resilient and patient approach to safeguarding students within a specialist school environment. Professional Development: Participate in mandatory CPD days and work toward a formal Teaching Assistant qualification.

Candidate Requirements and Qualifications

Experience: No previous experience is required, as full training is provided for the right candidate.

Attributes: Must be compassionate, dedicated, and emotionally resilient when working with disengaged or vulnerable learners.

Education: A willingness to undergo a fully funded apprenticeship to gain a formal TA qualification.

Transport: Due to the semi-rural location of the campus, having access to your own transport is highly desirable.

Compliance: Successful applicants will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check
