The Role

As a Teaching Assessor – Residential Childcare, you will deliver, coach and assess learners undertaking the Level 4 and Level 5 Children, Young People & Families Apprenticeship Standards, alongside Level 3 Residential Childcare qualifications where required.

Using a blended approach of workplace visits, remote coaching and one-to-one support, you will guide learners throughout their apprenticeship journey, ensuring they achieve their qualifications while developing the confidence and competence required within Residential Childcare settings.

Key Responsibilities

* Deliver teaching, coaching and assessment across Level 4 and Level 5 Children, Young People & Families Apprenticeships.

* Support delivery of Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare where required.

* Manage a caseload of apprentices and vocational learners.

* Conduct workplace reviews, observations and progress meetings.

* Provide personalised coaching, learning and assessment support.

* Prepare learners for Gateway and End Point Assessment.

* Monitor learner progress and implement timely intervention strategies where required.

* Maintain accurate learner records using e-portfolio systems.

* Work collaboratively with employers to support learner development and achievement.

* Embed Functional Skills, safeguarding, Prevent, British Values and Equality, Diversity & Inclusion throughout delivery.

* Ensure compliance with ESFA funding rules, awarding body requirements and Ofsted expectations.

* Participate in standardisation activities, quality assurance and continuous professional development.

The Ideal Candidate

We're looking for an experienced Residential Childcare professional who combines occupational expertise with a genuine passion for developing others.

You will have:

* Experience working within Residential Childcare supporting children and young people aged 6–25.

* Experience at Deputy Manager or Registered Manager level within a Residential Childcare setting.

* Experience delivering, coaching or assessing Apprenticeships or vocational qualifications.

* A Level 5 Teaching qualification (or equivalent).

* An Assessor qualification (A1, D32/D33 or equivalent).

* A Level 4 Residential Childcare qualification or Level 5 (or above) sector-related qualification.

* English, Maths and ICT qualifications at Level 2 or equivalent.

* Strong knowledge of Apprenticeship Standards, End Point Assessment and learner support.

* Excellent communication, coaching and stakeholder management skills.

* The ability to manage a varied learner caseload and travel nationally when required.

Desirable:

* Knowledge of ESFA funding requirements and the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework.

* Experience delivering Functional Skills within Apprenticeship programmes.
