⭐ About the Role
Teaching Personnel is seeking a Sports & Behaviour Support Mentor to support both general classroom learning and pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) at one of our partner secondary schools in the Newport area.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone resilient, patient, and motivated to make a real difference in young people’s lives. You’ll play a key role in supporting pupils who may display challenging behaviour or emotional needs, providing consistency, encouragement, and understanding to help them remain focused, engaged, and confident throughout the school day.
An interest in sport or physical activity is desirable, as this can be used as a positive tool to build relationships, encourage engagement, and promote emotional regulation. While the role is primarily classroom-based, there will be opportunities to use sport to enhance participation and support wider school involvement.
There may also be opportunities to support or cover PE lessons during staff absence, for candidates who are keen to take on additional responsibility and develop their behaviour management and classroom leadership skills.
This position is ideal for someone looking to gain valuable school-based experience, and could be an excellent first step toward a career in education, coaching, youth work, or sports development.
