Senior Service Technician – Solar & Battery Storage (O&M)
Commercial Scale Roof-Mounted Solar | Full Time | Permanent
A growing renewable energy organisation is seeking a Solar O&M Technician to support the operation and maintenance of roof-mounted commercial scale solar and battery storage assets across the region.
The business develops, constructs and maintains large-scale renewable energy projects across the UK and internationally, with a substantial portfolio of operational solar and battery assets.
In this role, you will act as a key technical contact responsible for maintaining safe, compliant and high-performing sites. Duties include preventative and reactive maintenance, fault diagnosis, reporting and supporting safe systems of work. The position offers a mix of site-based and remote working, collaborating closely with control engineers and asset operations teams.
This opportunity suits someone who enjoys problem-solving, autonomy and outdoor working within the growing low-carbon sector. Participation in a weekend on-call rota is required.
Key Responsibilities

Perform planned and reactive maintenance across electrical, mechanical, communications, security and structural systems

Diagnose and resolve faults across commercial-scale solar PV and battery storage assets
*
Complete inspections, work orders and maintain accurate site documentation
*
Manage site and vehicle stock to support safe and compliant operations
*
Supervise contractors and deliver site inductions
*
Support and promote safe systems of work
*
Participate in weekend on-call rotation
*
Provide occasional support to other regions, including overnight stays when required
*
Attend ongoing technical training
Experience & Qualifications
*
Qualified Electrician or Electrical Engineer (BS7671)
*
Inspection & Testing qualification (C&G 2391-52 or equivalent), or working towards
*
Background in solar PV installation or maintenance (commercial or utility-scale preferred)
*
Experience with inverter or PCS technologies such as SMA, Sungrow, Gamesa or Power Electronics desirable
*
HV experience advantageous (switchgear, transformers, AP/SAP up to 33kV)
*
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving capability
*
Able to work independently and manage workload effectively
*
Strong communication skills and proactive attitude
*
Comfortable working outdoors in varied weather conditions
