Senior Security Systems Engineer Overview:
A growing security and communications integrator is seeking an experienced Senior / Lead Security Systems Engineer to join its South East engineering and projects team. This field-based position focuses purely on high-end electronic security systems, with absolutely no fire alarm experience required.
Operating across Surrey, Oxford and Hampshire, the role demands a service-minded approach to resolving complex technical faults and executing installations across multiple high-profile sites, including a major local council presence.
The company is looking for an ambitious technical leader who can independently manage server and network-based security environments, configure systems, and act as a trusted interface for clients and IT departments.
Senior Security Systems Engineer Role & Responsibilities:
* Provide reactive service, advanced fault-finding, and technical support across enterprise Access Control, CCTV, and Intruder Alarm systems.
* Undertake server/client setup, software configurations, network troubleshooting, system upgrades, and migrations.
* Carry out commissioning, system handovers, and installation works as required across multiple regional sites.
* Configure and support IP-based security infrastructure, including TCP/IP networking, VLANs, and managed switch environments.
* Take absolute technical ownership of complex integration faults, software anomalies, and root-cause analysis.
* Liaise directly with client IT departments, consultants, and third-party stakeholders.
* Assist project managers and installation teams during major project delivery phases.
* Manage, mentor, and provide essential on-site technical support to junior engineers.
* Prepare accurate quotations for corrective works, small works, and preventative maintenance visits.
* Produce precise service reports, commissioning records, and digital technical documentation.
Senior Security Systems Engineer Skills & Experience Required:
* A minimum of 5 to 7+ years of dedicated experience within the electronic security industry.
* Strictly no fire alarm experience required—the candidate must be 100% focused on security disciplines.
* Strong, verifiable experience with Paxton Net2 and HikVision systems, including full software and server setup.
* Robust hands-on experience and familiarity with Honeywell Galaxy and Texecom intruder systems.
* Deep knowledge of networking CCTV, network diagnostics, Windows Server environments, and remote access/VPN technologies.
* Proven ability to take installations independently from first fix, through software configuration, to final commissioning.
* Strong communication skills with a polished, client-facing approach suited for corporate and public sector environments.
* Must reside within a 1-hour travel radius of Guildford (ideally based in Surrey or East Berkshire) to service regional accounts effectively.
* A valid ECS Card is essential.
* A full UK driving licence.
