Senior Residential Support Worker

Location: Gainsborough, Lincolnshire
Salary: £15.50 per hour
Hours: Minimum 37.5 hours per week (full-time)
Sleep-in Rate: £60 per sleep-in shift

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Residential Support Worker to join our team in a 2-bed residential home supporting children and young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and Learning Disabilities (LD).

As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you will play a key role in providing high-quality care, support, and guidance to young people, helping them develop independence, resilience, and positive life skills. You will act as a positive role model, lead shifts, support less experienced staff, and contribute to creating a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment.

Key Responsibilities
Provide high-quality care and support tailored to the individual needs of each young person.
Lead shifts and ensure the smooth running of the home in the absence of management.
Support young people with emotional, behavioural, and learning needs in line with their care plans.
Build positive, trusting relationships with young people and promote positive outcomes.
Complete and maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation.
Administer medication in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Support young people to engage in education, activities, appointments, and community involvement.
Promote safeguarding, health and safety, and the welfare of all young people.
Mentor and support Residential Support Workers and new team members.
Participate in team meetings, supervision sessions, and training.
Work collaboratively with families, social workers, education providers, and external professionals.
Participate in a rota that includes evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and sleep-in duties.
Essential Requirements
Minimum of 2 years' experience working within a residential childcare or supported living environment.
Experience supporting children and young people with EBD and/or Learning Disabilities.
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, Health & Social Care, Children & Young People's Workforce, or equivalent (or willingness to work towards).
Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
Competent in report writing and maintaining accurate records.
Full UK Driving Licence (preferred).
Desirable Requirements
Experience in a senior or shift-leading role.
Knowledge of therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches.
Medication administration training.
Understanding of Ofsted regulations and children's home standards.
