My client is looking for a highly skilled Senior Financial Accountant to take a leading role in shaping financial policy, strengthening financial governance, and driving continuous improvement across our statutory reporting and tax functions. This is a high-impact role at the centre of the company’s financial stewardship—ensuring regulatory compliance, safeguarding financial integrity, and providing trusted insights to internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the production of high-quality, accurate, and timely statutory accounts.
Oversee all areas of tax compliance, ensuring obligations are met while maintaining an optimal tax position.
Drive improvements across financial systems, internal controls, and reporting processes.
Safeguard balance sheet integrity through robust reconciliations and asset management.
Collaborate across the organisation to ensure financial information is accurate, accessible, and meaningful.
Serve as the primary contact for external auditors and government stakeholders.
Provide expert advice on complex financial matters, including VAT, technical accounting, and regulatory requirements.
Manage and develop a small team, supporting capability building and professional growth.
Interpret financial regulations to guide the business and ensure full compliance.
Lead and contribute to transformation initiatives that modernise financial governance and embed best practice.
Essential

ACA/ACCA/ICAEW qualified, with solid post-qualification experience in financial accounting, reporting, and audit.
Strong technical expertise in IFRS, FReM, Charities SORP, and UK tax legislation.
Proven experience leading statutory audits, managing complex reporting cycles, and delivering process improvements.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
Ability to independently manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Confident communicator with strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to influence at senior levels.Desirable

Experience in change management or finance transformation projects.
Experience leading, mentoring, or developing a team.
Background in public sector or charity finance.
A proactive, improvement-focused mindset with high attention to detail.
