I’m recruiting on behalf of my client in Southampton for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join their embedded software team. This role combines hands-on development with coordination of engineering activity, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both coding and guiding others.
The Role

Develop embedded software across microcontroller, DSP and embedded Linux platforms
*
Break down requirements into development tasks
*
Support project planning and provide workload estimates
*
Lead daily stand-ups and assist team members with debugging and problem-solving
*
Oversee system integration, prototype validation and demos
*
Liaise with cross-functional teams and external suppliers
*
Contribute code in your specialist area and take part in peer reviews
*
Support process improvements (CI, automated testing, documentation)
What You’ll Need
*
Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar
*
5+ years embedded software development experience
*
Strong C skills on embedded platforms
*
Expertise in at least one: embedded Linux, ARM microcontrollers or DSP
*
Experience with unit testing, automated testing or TDD
*
Clear communication and strong organisational skills
