About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated and empathetic SEMH Maths & English Tutor to join our team in Oldham for an ASAP start. This part-time role offers GBP30 per hour minimum, with the potential for a higher rate depending on your availability. You will be working with students who have Severe Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, so a compassionate approach to managing challenging behaviours and building positive relationships is essential.

Sessions will be delivered during school hours, and can take place in school, at the students home, or online, depending on your preferences and availability. The role is for approximately 20 hours per week, with the potential for more hours depending on student needs and your availability.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver tailored Maths and English lessons, adapting the content and teaching methods to meet the individual academic and emotional needs of each student.
Provide support for students with SEMH needs, using positive behaviour strategies to help them overcome barriers to learning.
Track student progress and provide regular feedback to students, parents, and school staff.
Develop and implement personalised lesson plans that are flexible to the students' unique learning styles.
Build strong, trusting relationships with students, encouraging engagement and academic progress.

Essential Requirements

At least 6 months of experience teaching or tutoring Maths and English to children.
At least 6 months of experience working with children with severe SEN, particularly those with SEMH needs.
Strong communication skills and the ability to establish rapport with students, parents, and staff.
You must be cleared to work with children (DBS check required).
References from the last two years of employment will be required.
