About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEMH Maths & English Tutor to join our team in Salford for an ASAP start. This part-time role offers GBP30 per hour minimum, with the potential for a higher rate depending on your availability. You will be working with students who have Severe Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and the role requires experience in managing complex needs and behaviour challenges.
Sessions will be delivered during school hours, and can be held in school, at the students home, or online, depending on your preferences and availability. The role is for approximately 20 hours per week, with the possibility of increasing hours based on demand and your availability.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver tailored Maths and English lessons to students with SEMH needs, adapting content and pace to meet individual learning needs.
Provide support for students with complex emotional and behavioural challenges, fostering a supportive and positive learning environment.
Use strategies to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours in a calm and empathetic manner.
Track student progress and provide regular feedback to students, parents, and school staff.
Develop and implement personalised lesson plans, adapting to the students emotional and educational needs.
Essential Requirements
At least 6 months experience teaching or tutoring Maths and English to children.
At least 6 months experience working with children with severe SEN, particularly those with SEMH needs.
While a teaching qualification (QTS, PGCE, etc.) is preferred, it is not essential.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships with students, parents, and staff.
You must be cleared to work with children (DBS check required).
References from the last two years of employment will be required.
