We are seeking a dedicated SEMH Specialist Tutor to support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in Oldham. This role is ideal for someone who can build strong, trusting relationships while supporting learners to re-engage with education and develop both emotionally and academically.
You will be working with students who may present with a range of additional needs, including Autism and ADHD, and who may be working below expected levels. Alongside emotional and behavioural support, you will also deliver tailored Maths and English sessions to help bridge key learning gaps.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-to-one support for students with SEMH needs, focusing on engagement, emotional regulation, and confidence-building.
Deliver tailored Maths and English sessions adapted to the students academic level and learning style.
Use de-escalation strategies and a nurturing approach to support behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
Build a consistent, positive rapport to create a safe and structured learning environment.
Adapt sessions in real-time based on the students emotional state and readiness to learn.
Monitor progress and provide clear, constructive feedback to parents, carers, and professionals.
Essential Requirements:
Minimum of 1 years experience working with students with SEMH needs.
Experience delivering Maths and/or English at a functional or GCSE level.
Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
Right to work in the UK.
Must have, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS check.
Desirable Qualifications:
Teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS) or relevant experience in education or youth work.
Experience working with students with Autism or ADHD.
Training in behaviour support, trauma-informed practice, or safeguarding.
