Job Title: Communications Officer
Grade 5 – Full Time (35 hours per week, Monday to Friday)
Are you a creative and organised communicator with a passion for promoting vibrant school life? We are seeking a Communications Officer to join our Administration Team and play a key role in shaping how our school engages with students, families, staff, alumni, and the wider community.
About the Role
Reporting to the Administration Manager, the Communications Officer will lead on developing and delivering a dynamic communications strategy that celebrates school achievements and strengthens our presence across a range of media. You will ensure high-quality internal and external communication, manage our online platforms, and help build lasting relationships with alumni and stakeholders.
This role is central to promoting the positive work and life of the school and requires excellent attention to detail, creativity, and strong organisational skills.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate a promotional and communications strategy for the school
Build strong relationships with alumni through regular communication and database management
Coordinate communications for a wide range of school events including Open Evenings, Awards Events, Concerts, and school productions
Ensure accuracy, consistency, and timely delivery of all school communications
Oversee and maintain up-to-date content on the school website and intranet
Manage and archive school materials in line with the school archive plan
Liaise with external printers and photographers to support the design and production of school publications
Ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act and GDPR
Carry out other relevant duties as required
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
Sound general education with GCSE grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) in Maths and English
A-levels or equivalent
Administrative experience related to publishing
Experience in editing, proofreading, and typography
Experience coordinating print and design projects
Desirable:
Degree or equivalent qualification
Experience in a school environment
Background in journalism, public relations, or similar fields
Skills & Attributes:
Strong IT skills and accuracy in data input
Ability to update content quickly and effectively
High attention to detail and commitment to quality
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
Understanding of and adherence to GDPR and data protection principles
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
