School Cook – Halifax
Location: Halifax
Salary: £19,754.31 per annum pro rata
Hours: 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00am–2:00pm
Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only
We are currently recruiting for a School Cook to join a school in Halifax on a permanent, term-time-only basis.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the school kitchen, preparing and serving nutritious meals for pupils and staff. This is a lone-working position, so the ability to work independently, manage your time effectively and maintain high standards is essential.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and cook healthy, nutritious meals for pupils and staff.
* Plan and prepare menus in line with school food standards.
* Cater for dietary requirements, allergies and special diets.
* Ensure food is prepared, cooked and stored safely.
* Complete food temperature, allergen and hygiene records.
* Monitor stock levels and order food and kitchen supplies when required.
* Check deliveries and ensure food is stored correctly.
* Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the kitchen.
* Clean and maintain kitchen equipment.
* Manage the kitchen independently and organise the daily workload.
* Follow all food hygiene, health and safety and safeguarding procedures.
Requirements
* Previous experience working as a cook, ideally within a school, nursery, care or similar setting.
* Good knowledge of food hygiene and food safety.
* Food Hygiene Level 2 would be advantageous.
* Understanding of allergens and special dietary requirements.
* Ability to prepare healthy and nutritious meals.
* Good organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
* Reliable, punctual and well organised.
* Positive attitude and good communication skills.
* Confident working independently as a lone worker.
