Looking for a cleaning role that offers stability, flexibility and a great work-life balance?
Simply Education are recruiting on behalf of a brand-new specialist school opening its doors in January 2027, and we're looking for a dedicated School Cleaner to join the team ahead of the exciting opening.
This is a fantastic opportunity to secure a 40-hour-per-week, term-time-only position, giving you the benefit of regular working hours while enjoying the school holidays - perfect for someone looking for a role that fits around family life and other commitments.
There's flexibility too. Working hours are negotiable and can be arranged either in the early mornings or after 4:30pm, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who needs their working day to fit around their lifestyle.
Be Part of Something New
You'll be joining a brand-new specialist school for children and young people aged 5-19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
With places for up to 96 pupils, the school will provide a nurturing, inclusive and ambitious environment where every young person is given the opportunity to thrive.
Starting in December means you'll be there before the pupils arrive, helping to prepare the school and make sure everything is clean, welcoming and ready for its first day in January.
The Role
As a School Cleaner, you'll play an important part in creating and maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors.
Working across classrooms, offices, corridors, toilets and communal areas, you'll help maintain excellent standards of cleanliness while supporting the school's health, safety and hygiene requirements.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
Cleaning classrooms, offices, toilets, corridors and communal areas to a high standard
Vacuuming, mopping and maintaining hard and soft floor surfaces
Emptying bins and replenishing hygiene and janitorial supplies
Dusting, wiping and cleaning furniture, fixtures, fittings and surfaces throughout the school
Completing daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedules and checklists
Using cleaning products and equipment safely and in line with COSHH and health and safety guidance
Identifying and reporting defects, maintenance concerns or potential hazards to the appropriate member of the school team
Helping to ensure the school remains a welcoming, safe and pleasant environment for pupils, colleagues and visitors
About You
We're looking for someone who is reliable, hardworking and takes genuine pride in their work.
You don't necessarily need previous experience within a specialist school. What's most important is your attitude, attention to detail and commitment to creating an environment where children and young people can feel safe and comfortable.
Ideally, you will have:
Excellent attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness
The ability to work confidently both independently and as part of a team
A reliable, organised and flexible approach to work
Good communication and interpersonal skills
An understanding of the importance of confidentiality within a school environment
Knowledge of health and safety requirements and the safe use of cleaning products, or a willingness to learn
A good level of physical fitness and the ability to carry out manual handling tasks safely
Previous cleaning experience within a school, education or special needs setting would be an advantage, but is not essential
A Role That Works Around You
We understand how important work-life balance is, which is why this opportunity offers some fantastic benefits:
40 hours per week
Term-time only working
School holidays away from work
Negotiable working hours
The option to work early mornings or after 4:30pm
The opportunity to join a brand-new school from the very beginning
A role where your work genuinely contributes to the wellbeing of children and young people
