We are currently recruiting for a School Caretaker to join a school in Wednesbury. This is a varied, hands-on role suited to someone who takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean and secure school environment.
Key Responsibilities
Carrying out regular checks of fire exits and ensuring access routes remain clear
Flushing water outlets in line with site procedures
Litter picking and maintaining the cleanliness of the school grounds
Reading and recording utility meters
Locking up the school premises
Carrying out general site and building checks
Reporting any maintenance issues, defects or health and safety concerns
Helping to ensure the school site is safe, secure and well maintained
Assisting with general caretaking duties as required
The Ideal CandidateWe are looking for someone who is:
Reliable, punctual and trustworthy
Practical and hands-on
Able to work independently and use their own initiative
Comfortable carrying out routine checks and general maintenance tasks
Friendly and professional when dealing with staff, pupils and visitors
Able to follow health and safety procedures
Previous caretaking, facilities or maintenance experience is desirable, but candidates with relevant practical experience will also be considered.
Due to the nature of the role and working within a school environment, a prior Enhanced DBS will be required.
