A leading organisation in the construction and highways sector is looking to hire a Sales Executive to join their team in Walsall. This is a key role focused on managing customer enquiries and orders, developing relationships across key accounts, and driving revenue growth through proactive account development and consistently high service levels.
The role
You will be responsible for accurately processing and administering customer orders and enquiries, while actively growing revenue across a portfolio of key accounts.
Key responsibilities
Account growth and revenue expansion
Manage and develop a portfolio of key accounts to increase revenue and customer spend
Identify opportunities within existing accounts and promote the full range of products and services
Deliver against targets for account growth, order conversion, and customer retention
Customer relationship management
Build strong, long-term customer relationships and ensure needs are understood and met
Provide guidance on suitable products and services
Ensure customer communications are logged and visible within internal systems
Quotations and opportunity management
Produce accurate, timely quotations
Track and follow up open quotations and capture reasons for non-conversion
Order processing and administration
Process orders and requisitions accurately and promptly
Coordinate with procurement, logistics and stores to ensure successful fulfilment
Manage a shared sales mailbox to keep requests prioritised and visible
Customer service and issue resolution
Resolve queries quickly, escalating where needed
Monitor deliveries and keep customers updated on stock, transport, or scheduling
Process compliance and HSEQ
Save documentation and correspondence correctly
Support returns, credits, and related paperwork
Work in line with HSEQ policies and report incidents appropriately
What we are looking for (essential)
Proven sales performance, consistently achieving and exceeding targets
Strong influencing and negotiation skills
Confident objection handling and relationship-building
Experience managing multiple accounts while driving sustained revenue growth
Highly organised with strong admin skills and attention to detail
Confident using CRM systems and a range of computer systems accurately
Able to handle high volumes of enquiries, calls, and orders without losing quality
Strong communication skills and a customer-first approach
Collaborative team player across sales, procurement, logistics, and stores
Desirable
Construction / traffic management product knowledge
Experience using SOP systems (for example, Insphire)
