Shift Pattern:

This is a full-time position working up to 38 hours per week on a rota basis. The business operates 364 days per year between 6:00am and 11:00pm, therefore flexibility is required to work a variety of shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.

Our client has built an excellent reputation for delivering outstanding customer service, supporting local communities, and maintaining exceptionally high operational standards. Due to continued growth and investment in their people, they are seeking an ambitious Retail Shift Manager to join their management team.

The Role

As Retail Shift Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the management team and driving operational excellence across the site. You will be responsible for leading shifts, developing team performance, ensuring compliance, and maintaining a safe, efficient, and customer-focused environment.

You will also be responsible for overseeing site security and lock-up procedures when working evening shifts.

Key responsibilities include:

Leading and motivating colleagues to deliver outstanding customer service

Supporting the Site Manager and Assistant Manager with team development and performance management

Managing daily operational activities to ensure the smooth running of the site

Producing staffing rotas and attendance reports

Supporting investigations and employee-related matters when required

Assisting with stock reconciliation and store audit processes

Monitoring cash handling procedures and supporting cash loss reconciliation

Ensuring the business operates safely, legally, and in line with company procedures

Contributing ideas and improvements to enhance operational efficiency and customer experience

Supporting local community initiatives and engagement activities

The Person

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

Previous leadership or supervisory experience within a retail, convenience, hospitality, or similar customer-facing environment

Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team

A positive, proactive, and resilient approach to work

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment

A passion for delivering exceptional customer service

A commercial mindset with a drive to support business growth and success

Flexibility to work shifts between 6:00am and 11:00pm, including evenings and weekends

A full UK driving licence would be advantageous, although not essential
