Job Title: Residential Childcare Tutor
Location: This is a home based position
Salary: £29-£33k
Job Purpose:
Residential Childcare Tutor. To deliver high-quality online teaching to learners undertaking Level 3–5 Residential Childcare qualifications, including apprenticeships and diploma programmes.
The Residential Childcare Tutor will plan and deliver engaging online learning, support learner progress and achievement, and maintain high standards of teaching, compliance, safeguarding and learner engagement. The role will make effective use of digital learning technologies, EdTech and appropriate AI tools.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching and Learning
* Plan and deliver engaging online teaching through Microsoft Teams.
* Deliver Level 3–5 Residential Childcare programmes, including apprenticeships.
* Create an inclusive and supportive learning environment, adapting teaching and assessment to meet individual learner needs
* Use effective teaching, questioning and assessment strategies.
* Provide appropriate learning resources and support learner progress.
Learner Support
* Promote learner attendance, participation and engagement.
* Follow up non-attendance and work with colleagues to address barriers to learning.
* Provide appropriate IAG and pastoral support.
* Encourage learners to take responsibility for their learning and development.
Curriculum and Quality
* Develop and maintain current, engaging learning resources.
* Ensure delivery meets qualification, apprenticeship and organisational requirements.
* Use digital technology and approved AI tools responsibly.
* Participate in observations, standardisation, curriculum reviews and quality improvement activities.
* Monitor learner progress and performance against agreed targets and KPIs.
Safeguarding and Professional Development
* Promote safeguarding, learner wellbeing, equality, diversity and inclusion.
* Comply with safeguarding, Prevent, GDPR, health and safety and confidentiality requirements.
* Maintain current Residential Childcare and teaching knowledge through CPD.
* Participate in training, appraisal, standardisation and reflective practice.
Person Specification:
Essential Qualifications
* Level 3 CAVA or equivalent assessing qualification. Level 3 Residential Childcare or related vocational qualification.
* Relevant teaching qualification at Level 4 or above, such as PGCE, CertEd or Level 5 DET. Level 2 Maths and English or equivalent.
* Relevant Advice and Guidance qualification.
Essential Skills and Experience
* Experience delivering apprenticeship training within the relevant sector.
* Knowledge of apprenticeship standards and the Education Inspection Framework.
* Knowledge and experience of RQF/QCF qualifications.
* Occupational experience within Residential Childcare.
* Experience of teaching and facilitating learning.
* Proven ability to achieve positive learner outcomes and meet targets.
* Good IT and digital learning skills, including Microsoft Office.
* Understanding of safeguarding, equality, diversity and relevant sector legislation.
* Commitment to CPD, reflective practice and the ETF Professional Standards.
Additional Requirement
Current full driving licence and access to a vehicle where required, with appropriate business insurance.
