About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Maths & English Tutor to join our team in St Helens. This flexible, part-time role offers GBP30 per hour minimum, with the possibility of a higher rate based on your availability. You will be working with students who have high Special Educational Needs (SEN), so the ability to build strong relationships and effectively manage challenging behaviours is essential.

Sessions will take place during school hours and can be delivered in school, at the students home, or online, based on your availability and student needs. The role is for approximately 20 hours per week, with the potential for additional hours depending on student demand and your availability.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver engaging and tailored Maths and English lessons that meet the individual needs of students.
Support students with high SEN needs, helping them to overcome learning barriers and build confidence.
Manage challenging behaviours using effective, supportive strategies.
Track student progress and provide regular feedback to students, parents, and school staff.
Create and implement personalised lesson plans that suit each students learning style.

Essential Requirements

Experience teaching or tutoring Maths and English at primary or secondary level.
Confidence in working with students with high SEN needs and managing challenging behaviours.
Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with students, parents, and staff.
You must be cleared to work with children (DBS check required).
References from the last two years of employment will be required.

The role is part-time, with sessions taking place during school hours (Monday to Friday).
Sessions can be delivered in school, at the students home, or online, depending on your availability and the preferences of the student.
