Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant - Secondary School - Wirral
Are you a Psychology graduate looking to gain hands-on experience supporting young people in education?
We're seeking a motivated and compassionate Psychology Graduate to join a supportive secondary school on the Wirral as a Teaching Assistant, working closely with students who may need additional academic, emotional, or behavioural support.
This role is ideal for graduates considering a future career in education, educational psychology, mental health, or youth work.
What you'll be doing:
Supporting students 1:1 and in small groups across the classroom
Assisting pupils with additional needs, including SEN, SEMH, and behavioural challenges
Helping students stay engaged, regulated, and focused during lessons
Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff to support learning and wellbeing
Implementing strategies to support emotional regulation, confidence, and behaviour
Building positive, trusting relationships with students to encourage progress
What we're looking for:
A Psychology degree (or related subject)
A genuine interest in child development, mental health, or special educational needs
Confidence working with secondary-aged pupils (11-16)
A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
Strong communication skills and a proactive attitude
Previous experience working with children or young people (desirable but not essential)
