Help Shape the Future of a Specialist School Community

We're excited to be recruiting Personal Care Assistants (phone number removed) to join our partnered school as we help launch their brand‑new site based in Knowle, and continue to grow and strengthen our provision for pupils with complex needs.

Briarwood School is an Ofsted Outstanding specialist provider known for exceptional care, a highly skilled staff team, and a deeply inclusive ethos. With multiple sites across Bristol, we offer a nurturing, creative environment where pupils with profound, severe, and complex needs can thrive.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dedicated, compassionate team supporting children and young people with a wide range of needs, including PMLD, SLD, ASC and complex medical or sensory needs. Your role will be central to supporting pupils' personal care, wellbeing, comfort, and access to their environment - celebrating every small step along the way.

As a Personal Care Assistant, you will:

Carry out personal care routines with and for pupils (including manual handling - full training provided)

Support pupils during break and lunchtime to ensure meals and drinks are completed safely and hygienically

Prepare and deliver food in the correct consistency for each pupil's individual eating and drinking needs

Support hydrotherapy and physiotherapy sessions

Deliver appropriate lunchtime play or leisure activities to ensure pupils enjoy a positive, meaningful break

Receive training to support pupils who are tube‑fed and to assist with the safe administration of medication

Support pupils in accessing their environment, community and wider school life

Work closely with teachers, therapists, and specialist staff to create a safe, joyful, and engaging environment

We're Looking For Someone Who:

Has experience in care or supporting individuals with personal care needs (desirable, not essential)

Is comfortable delivering intimate personal care with dignity and respect

Brings warmth, patience, and resilience

Is proactive, adaptable, and committed to teamwork

Can follow routines and support pupils with a wide range of physical and medical needs

Wants to learn, grow, and develop specialist SEN and care skills
