Job Title: Part-Time Youth Mentor
Location: South Manchester
Start Date: April 2026 (After Easter Half Term)
Hourly Rate: GBP30 per hour
Average Hours: 20 hours per week
Role Overview:
Are you passionate about working with young people who have been disengaged from school? Do you have a desire to help guide them back into education and support them in rebuilding their academic confidence? This part-time Youth Mentor role in South Manchester offers the perfect opportunity to make a positive and lasting impact.
In this role, youll work closely with students who may have faced challenges staying in school or have been out of education for some time. Your primary responsibility will be to guide and mentor these students, helping them transition back into school life while offering Maths and English support to improve their academic progress.
Key Responsibilities:
Mentor students, providing guidance and emotional support to help them re-engage with school.
Offer Maths and English tuition, personalised to the needs of each student.
Build strong, trusting relationships with students to encourage motivation and confidence.
Collaborate with school staff to track progress and ensure the students' needs are met.
Develop tailored plans to support students social, emotional, and academic development.
Assist students with behavioural and emotional difficulties, creating a safe and supportive learning environment.
Requirements:
Previous experience working with young people, preferably in a mentoring, youth work, or educational setting.
Experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) or those who have become disengaged from education.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
A proactive, empathetic approach to working with students facing personal and academic challenges.
Ideally, availability for at least 3 days a week.
Additional Information:
The role is part-time, with an average of 20 hours per week.
The hourly rate is GBP30, and the role will take place during school hours (between 9 AM and 3 PM).
