Based in fully equipped, modern workshops within easy reach of Bedford and East Northamptonshire, we combine traditional restoration techniques with high-quality engineering and craftsmanship.
We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer / Machinist with a background in mechanical engineering or mechanics and, ideally, experience working with vintage, classic or historic vehicles.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to work on some truly exceptional cars within a professional, specialist restoration environment.
Mechanical Engineer Machinist Day to Day Duties
* Carry out mechanical restoration work on vintage and historic Bentley vehicles.
* Strip, inspect, repair and rebuild mechanical components and sub-assemblies to an exceptionally high standard.
* Manufacture, modify and refurbish mechanical components as required.
* Use engineering drawings and technical specifications to produce accurate components.
* Carry out turning and milling operations where required.
* Diagnose mechanical issues and determine appropriate repair or restoration methods.
* Work with a range of traditional and modern engineering techniques.
* Ensure restored components meet the required standards of accuracy, functionality and finish.
* Work closely with other members of the restoration team to complete projects to schedule.
* Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
* Take responsibility for individual projects and use your own initiative to overcome engineering challenges.
Mechanical Engineer Machinist Requirements
* Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Fitter, Machinist or Mechanic.
* Strong mechanical engineering skills and practical experience.
* Previous experience stripping and rebuilding mechanical components and sub-assemblies to a very high standard.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
* Practical machining experience, particularly turning and milling, would be highly advantageous.
* Experience working on vintage, classic or historic vehicles is highly desirable.
* Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think independently.
* A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
* Good timekeeping and reliability.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also managing individual tasks and projects.
* A genuine passion for engineering, craftsmanship and historic vehicles.
