Location: Saffron Walden, Essex
Salary: £45,000
Hours: Monday to Friday

A leading pharmaceutical manufacturer is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join their on-site engineering team in Saffron Walden. This is a great opportunity to work within a clean, regulated environment, supporting critical production and facility systems in a modern, well-equipped plant.

Key Responsibilities:

Carry out mechanical maintenance, servicing, and repair of plant and equipment

*

Support planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive breakdown response

*

Work on pumps, valves, compressors, pipework, HVAC and general building services systems

*

Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment

*

Ensure maintenance activities are completed safely and in line with GMP and site standards

*

Support reliability and efficiency improvements across the site

*

Liaise with contractors and suppliers where required

*

Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation

Skills & Experience Required:

*

Recognised mechanical qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds / HNC)

*

Proven experience within a pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or process environment

*

Strong understanding of mechanical systems and maintenance procedures

*

Knowledge of GMP, health & safety, and compliance (advantageous)

*

Good problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills

*

Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned areas
