The work the company does includes powering new build developments, installing electric vehicle chargers, carrying out full and partial rewires, issuing landlord safety certificates, and completing consumer unit upgrades.
With a strong reputation for reliability and customer service, they are entering an exciting phase of growth and are looking for a Management Accountant to help support and shape the company's financial future.
The Role
This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on Management Accountant to join a growing business where you will have real impact and visibility. Working closely with the business owner and wider team, you will take ownership of the day-to-day finance function while also providing valuable commercial insight to support decision-making.
The role is open to a remote hybrid arrangement with the expectation that the Management Accountant will meet the company owner once a week.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Control
* Prepare timely and accurate monthly management accounts
* Produce profit & loss, balance sheet, and cash flow reports and analysis
* Manage month-end processes including accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations
* Maintain strong financial controls and ensure accuracy of financial data
Commercial Finance
* Analyse profitability across jobs, projects, and service lines
* Support pricing decisions and margin improvement initiatives
* Work closely with the operations team to track job performance and costs
* Provide insights into key cost drivers such as labour, materials, and subcontractors
Budgeting & Forecasting
* Lead budgeting and forecasting processes
* Monitor performance against budget and provide variance analysis
* Support cash flow forecasting and working capital management
Transactional Oversight
* Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes
* Ensure timely invoicing for completed works and contract milestones
* Monitor debtor balances and support credit control activities
Business Support
* Support system improvements and process efficiencies
* Assist with year-end accounts and liaise with external accountants
* Provide ad hoc financial analysis to support business growth
About You
* Qualified or part-qualified accountant (AAT, ACCA, CIMA or similar)
* Experience in a similar role, ideally within construction or engineering
* Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting software (e.g. Xero, Sage)
* Commercially minded with the ability to translate numbers into insight
* Comfortable working in a small business environment with a hands-on approach
