Management Accountant – Responsibilities

* Support senior finance leaders with financial management and operational reporting

* Provide financial advice and insight to budget holders and stakeholders

* Contribute to financial, performance, and productivity objectives

* Assist in improving financial systems, controls, and processes

* Prepare monthly management accounts, including accruals, prepayments, reconciliations, and variance analysis

* Produce budgets, forecasts, and support business planning

* Compile reporting packs for senior leadership and board review

* Deliver financial reports, presentations, and attend meetings as required

* Provide guidance on financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements

* Participate in tender evaluations and financial assessments

* Act as a business partner to promote best practice across the organisation

* Support internal and external audit processes and resolve queries

* Monitor performance, value for money metrics, and benchmarking data

* Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies

* Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting

* Support, train, and help develop team members

* Lead and manage staff, promoting continuous improvement and performance

* Ensure compliance with data protection, company policies, and statutory requirements

* Adhere to health & safety, equality, and risk management standards

Requirements

* Strong experience in financial or management accounting, including budgeting and forecasting

* Ability to analyse complex financial and performance data

* Experience supporting and advising budget holders

* Proficient in financial systems and IT applications

* Good understanding of accounting principles, VAT, and financial controls

* Strong communication, organisational, and time management skills

* Ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines, and adapt to change

* Experience supervising or developing staff

* Qualified or part-qualified accountant (AAT Level 4, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent)
