Hales Group is a nationwide market leader in its field, with 38 offices around the UK with the Finance Team based in Fengate, Peterborough. With a current turnover of £60m we have aspirational growth targets over the next two years and beyond by organic growth, tender wins and acquisition and need a flexible and adaptable team member with strong analytical skills to provide insightful data to drive the necessary changes within the business under the direction of the Group Chief Accountant.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Lead a team of three, providing management, support, and guidance.
* Take full responsibility for the accurate production of Monthly Management Accounts within the specified time limits for circulation to Divisional heads and Senior Leadership Team and respond appropriately to any queries arising.
* Manage Sage 200 at month end to aid the timely production of the Management Accounts specifically related to accruals and prepayments.
* Be accountable for the processing of data uploads to, and day to day management of, the ID facility, always ensuring bank covenant and legal compliance.
* Provide accurate and timely information with insightful and proactive analysis that helps drive the business forward.
* Be responsible for the production of weekly KPI reporting to the operating divisions, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
* Take responsibility for the preparation of routine reports for the Board and Senior Leadership Team, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
* Be accountable for ensuring all balance sheet reconciliations are completed in full within set deadlines and are fully understood and compliant with best practice and Accounting Standards.
* Collaborate with senior finance colleagues to drive process improvements in line with applicable regulatory frameworks.
* Take an active role in the successful completion of all audits (statutory, banking, and other regulatory)
* Any other ad hoc projects.
ABOUT YOU
You will be suitably qualified for the role with experience in a similar role but not necessarily in the sector. You will be the senior member of the four-person supervisory team within the department; all of whom report to the Group Chief Accountant and each with their own team. You will be able to demonstrate your commercial acumen in a high transaction environment. YOUR TEAM
Your team will comprise of three direct reports who you will assist, support and guide through the report preparation and publication, administration of Creditors (a small ledger) and all outgoing payments and banking (including an ID facility), rolling up your sleeves and being “hands on” where necessary
