I am supporting a long‑established charity in their search for a dedicated Management Accountant to join their finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys a broad finance role and wants to contribute to an organisation making a real difference in the community.

Working closely with the General Manager, the Management Accountant will take ownership of key financial processes across reporting, budgeting and day‑to‑day transactional duties. This role suits someone who is confident working in a small, hands‑on finance function and who takes pride in accuracy, efficiency and improving processes.

Role Overview

The purpose of the role is to support the General Manager by ensuring that the finance function runs smoothly and that all financial tasks are delivered to a high standard and on time. You will play a crucial part in producing management information, strengthening controls, and supporting the ongoing development of financial systems.

Key Responsibilities

Management Accounting & Reporting

* Support the preparation of monthly management accounts.

* Carry out variance analysis, trend reviews and produce meaningful financial insights.

* Assist with year‑end processes, including accruals, prepayments, debtor schedules and journal preparation.

Budgeting & Forecasting

* Help coordinate the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasts.

* Provide accurate financial information to support planning and decision‑making.

Systems & Process Development

* Assist with the transition from Sage to Xero, supporting data migration, testing and the roll‑out of new workflows.

Transactional Finance

Purchase Ledger

* Maintain supplier data within Sage/Xero and process invoices efficiently.

* Prepare weekly payment runs and ensure appropriate approvals are in place.

* Issue monthly remittances as required.

Sales Ledger

* Maintain customer information.

* Issue invoices and credit notes across multiple departments within agreed timeframes.

Cash, Banking & Credit Control

* Handle petty cash banking and complete monthly reconciliations.

* Take responsibility for credit control, including debt chasing and debtor reporting.

* Monitor and process daily bank activity; complete regular bank reconciliations.

* Prepare monthly income and recharge reports for review.

General Finance & Administration

* Respond to finance queries from internal teams and external partners.

* Support additional finance and administrative tasks as required to ensure smooth departmental operations.

Ideal Candidate

* Experience in management accounting, ideally within a charity or SME environment.

* Confident handling both reporting and transactional finance.

* Working knowledge of Sage or Xero (experience of both is an advantage).

* Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.

* A proactive approach with the ability to improve systems and processes.
