Full job description

We are looking for a Healthcare Assistant / Support Worker to support a young person with complex health and care needs in his home and community. The role includes providing personal care, mobility assistance, communication support, and community access. A full UK driving licence is essential.

Responsibilities:

* Provide full personal care and support with all activities of daily living.

* Deliver PEG feeding (gastrostomy care) in line with care plans.

* Support with epilepsy management, including administration of emergency medication when required.

* Support asthma care and general health monitoring.

* Assist with moving and handling, including hoist use and supported mobility.

* Support communication using non-verbal methods such as gestures, facial expressions, and picture-based systems.

* Ensure safety at all times, including supervision due to mouthing/chewing behaviours.

* Support community access, appointments, and social activities.

* Work as part of a care team, including alongside another support worker when required (2:1 support).

Requirements:

* Male or female Carer with a full valid UK driving license and drives.

* Minimum 6 months recent care experience in the UK.

* Experience supporting children or young people with autism, sensory needs, and complex behaviours.

* PEG feeding (gastrostomy care) competency or proven experience.

* Epilepsy awareness and experience supporting individuals with epilepsy, including emergency medication administration.

* Experience with hoist use and safe moving & handling techniques.

* Strong understanding of personal care for individuals with high dependency needs.

* Calm, patient, and empathetic approach with the ability to manage challenging behaviours safely.

* Ability to work in a family home setting and as part of a care team, including working alongside another support worker when required.

* Training in trauma-informed and sensory-aware care (desirable).
