Hays Senior Finance is delighted to be supporting an established, multi-site hospitality business in North Yorkshire with the appointment of a Lead Accountant / Financial Controller.This is an excellent opportunity to join a successful and distinctive organisation, taking ownership of its day-to-day financial operations while providing financial oversight across a broader portfolio of locations.
Your new role
Reporting into the Director and shareholders, you will take responsibility for delivering an accurate, efficient and commercially focused finance function.This is a hands-on, office-based position where you will manage the finances of a key operating location while remotely supporting additional sites. Acting as a trusted financial adviser, you will provide management with clear financial information, commercial insight and practical recommendations to support operational and strategic decision-making.
Your responsibilities will include:
Preparing management accounts, financial statements and reports
Leading the budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning processes
Managing cash flow, working capital and cash-flow forecasting
Producing variance analysis and presenting clear recommendations to management
Advising on cost control, profitability and investment opportunities
Supporting business planning and commercial decision-making
Managing payroll from start to finish, including HMRC submissions, pensions and payslips
Overseeing the TRONC process
Supporting VAT returns and tax filings
Maintaining appropriate financial controls and ensuring regulatory compliance
Providing effective financial oversight across multiple operating locations What you'll need to succeed
You will be a fully qualified accountant or an experienced finance professional who is qualified by experience, with the ability to combine strong technical accounting skills with a practical and commercially focused approach.The organisation is ideally looking for someone who has worked within hospitality or retail, or within another fast-paced, multi-site, customer-focused environment. Experience of balancing the financial needs of an individual site with the wider requirements of a multi-location business would be particularly valuable.You should also be able to demonstrate:
Strong management accounting, budgeting and forecasting experience
Experience of cash-flow and working-capital management
A sound understanding of payroll, tax and financial compliance
The confidence to advise senior managers and operational stakeholders
Strong leadership, organisation and relationship-management skills
The ability to manage competing priorities across multiple locations
Experience with QuickBooks
Previous exposure to hospitality systems, TRONC or ResLynx would be advantageous This is an opportunity to take ownership of a varied and influential finance role within an established multi-site organisation. You will work closely with senior management and have the opportunity to influence financial controls, commercial performance and future business planning.
