About the Role

We are currently looking for a Junior / Graduate Controls Engineer to join a leading organisation within the automation industry.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career engineer to develop their skills within a supportive project environment. You will work alongside experienced Controls Engineers, developing your skills with PLC programming, system design, testing, and commissioning.

The role offers structured development and the chance to build a long-term career within automation and controls engineering.

Key Responsibilities

Support the design and development of control system solutions

Assist with PLC software development and modifications (primarily Siemens)

Help produce and maintain controls documentation and design packs

Support compliance checks against customer and legislative requirements

Assist with electrical drawing reviews and interpretation

Provide on-site support during installation, testing, and commissioning phases

Work collaboratively with electrical, mechanical, and software teams

Support troubleshooting activities during testing and live environments

Maintain high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance

Required Skills & Experience

Degree (or HNC/HND) in Electrical, Automation, Mechatronics, or Controls Engineering

Basic understanding of PLC systems (Siemens desirable, training provided)

Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics

Strong problem-solving mindset

Good communication skills and willingness to learn

Ability to work both independently and within a team

Willingness to travel occasionally within the UK and internationally

Working Environment

You'll be based primarily in the UK, working in the office. The role will occasionally involve travel within the UK and overseas to support installations, testing, and commissioning activities.
