Job Title:Intervention Tutor
Location: Newcastle
Pay Rate: GBP25-GBP30 per hour
Hours: Up to 15 hours per week

Prospero Teaching is seeking a compassionate and experienced Intervention Tutor to provide 1:1 and small-group support to secondary-aged students (KS3/KS4) across Newcastle. Many of the students supported have SEND and SEMH, so require tailored academic, social, and emotional support to help them engage positively with learning.
This role is well suited to a tutor who adopts a calm, structured, and student-centred approach, and who can work collaboratively with families, schools, and external professionals to support young peoples progress and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
· Deliver engaging, personalised sessions in Maths and English, adapted to students age, ability, and learning needs.
· Support the development of communication, social skills, and emotional regulation using evidence-based SEN strategies.
· Promote positive behaviour, confidence, and independence in line with students individual needs and EHCP targets.
· Adapt teaching approaches and resources in accordance with students needs.
· Support students engagement with education, including preparation for examinations, functional skills, or alternative pathways where appropriate.
· Work closely with parents/carers, schools, and other professionals to ensure a consistent and holistic approach.
· Monitor progress and contribute to regular feedback and reporting.
Requirements:
· 6 months experience working with students with SEN, including ASD, ADHD and SEMH needs.
· Strong understanding of the KS3/KS4 curriculum and differentiated teaching strategies.
· Ability to build positive, professional relationships with young people using age-appropriate and respectful approaches.
· Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
· Right to work in the UK.
Desirable:
· Background in SEN education, alternative provision, or youth work.
· Knowledge of autism-specific and SEMH strategies (e.g. visual supports, Zones of Regulation, executive functioning tools).
· Experience supporting learners with anxiety, emotional regulation, or social communication needs.
· Relevant teaching or SEN qualifications (e.g. QTS, PGCE or Level 3+ SEN).
