Inside Sales & Applications Specialist – Cell Biology
Office based – Rural Buckinghamshire
Salary: ~£35,000 + benefits
Are you a Cell Biologist with hands-on laboratory experience looking to take your scientific knowledge into a more commercial, customer-facing career?
We are working with a specialist Life Sciences organisation supplying cell biology and recombinant protein products to researchers across academia, biotechnology and pharmaceutical research. They are looking for an Inside Sales & Applications Specialist to provide technical support to customers while developing new commercial opportunities.
The company isn't a corporate giant. It's a UK-based SME that has carved out a strong niche within the Life Sciences sector, developing a global customer base through high-quality products, service and technical application support.
You'll be joining a small, dedicated and friendly team with a genuine focus on working together towards a common goal. You won't be a number or a small cog in a large machine; you'll be a valued member of the team where your contribution and achievements can have a real impact on the performance and growth of the organisation.
THE ROLE
This is a varied role combining technical applications support with outbound sales, helping researchers select, understand and troubleshoot products used across areas such as cell culture, cell signalling, protein expression and cell-based assays.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Providing technical support and troubleshooting for customers using cell biology reagents and recombinant proteins.
* Understanding customers' research requirements and recommending appropriate products and solutions.
* Developing relationships with researchers through telephone and email contact.
* Proactively contacting prospective customers and developing new sales opportunities.
* Following up enquiries, leads and quotations.
* Building your knowledge of the company's products, applications and customer base.
* Working closely with technical and commercial colleagues to resolve customer requirements.
ABOUT YOU
You will ideally have:
* A degree or higher in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or a related Life Science discipline.
* A few years' hands-on laboratory experience in cell biology, ideally including recombinant proteins, cell culture and/or cell-based assays.
* Strong scientific troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication skills and the confidence to discuss technical subjects with researchers.
* A genuine interest in developing a career in scientific sales and applications.
* A proactive approach and the confidence to engage in outbound customer contact.
Previous sales experience isn't essential – this role would suit a scientist looking to make the transition from the laboratory into a commercially focused Life Sciences career, whilst continuing to use their scientific knowledge and technical expertise.
Due to the rural Buckinghamshire location, a full UK driving licence and access to a car are essential. This is primarily an office-based position, with occasional requirements to meet customers and attend industry events and exhibitions
