The Healthcare Assistant provides high-quality personal care and support to residents in a safe, respectful and compassionate environment. The role involves helping residents with their daily activities, promoting independence and dignity, monitoring their wellbeing, and working closely with nurses, carers, families and other healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide personal care, including washing, dressing, toileting and continence support.
* Assist residents with eating, drinking and maintaining a healthy diet.
* Support residents with mobility, transfers and use of mobility equipment.
* Monitor and report changes in residents' physical or emotional wellbeing.
* Record care provided accurately and maintain appropriate documentation.
* Support residents with medication in accordance with training and care-home procedures.
* Maintain residents' privacy, dignity and confidentiality at all times.
* Encourage residents to remain as independent and active as possible.
* Provide companionship and emotional support.
* Assist with activities and social engagement.
* Follow safeguarding, infection-control, health-and-safety and care-home policies.
* Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary care team.
* Communicate appropriately with residents, relatives, colleagues and healthcare professionals.
* Attend training and maintain required knowledge and skills.
* Report accidents, incidents, concerns or suspected abuse immediately through the correct procedures.
Essential Skills and Qualities:
* Caring, patient and compassionate attitude.
* Good communication and listening skills.
* Respect for older people and people with disabilities or complex needs.
* Ability to work as part of a team.
* Reliability and punctuality.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality.
* Good observation and reporting skills.
* Willingness to undertake relevant training.
* Ability to work shifts, including weekends and bank holidays where required.

Previous experience in a care home or healthcare setting is desirable.
