Health and Social Care is a popular and growing subject within our school, with strong student uptake at Key Stages 4 and 5. The Role
As a Health and Social Care Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging, high-quality lessons that enable students to achieve excellent academic outcomes while developing a genuine understanding of the health and social care sector.
You will:
Teach Health and Social Care across Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5.
Deliver lessons that are engaging, challenging and differentiated to meet the needs of all learners.
Foster a positive learning environment where students are encouraged to think critically, solve problems and develop professional behaviours.
Use a range of assessment strategies to monitor progress and provide timely, constructive feedback.
Support students in achieving excellent examination and coursework outcomes.
Plan and deliver high-quality curriculum resources that reflect current developments within the health and social care profession.
Promote high expectations of behaviour, attendance and achievement.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and continually improve the curriculum.
Contribute to enrichment opportunities, careers education and employer engagement activities that broaden students' understanding of the sector.
Play an active role in the wider life of the school through tutor responsibilities and extracurricular activities.
The Successful Candidate Will Have
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
A degree or relevant qualification in Health and Social Care or a related subject.
Strong subject knowledge and an understanding of current developments within the health and social care sector.
Experience teaching Health and Social Care qualifications at Key Stage 4 and/or Key Stage 5, including vocational pathways such as BTEC or Cambridge Technicals.
Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to motivate students of all abilities.
High expectations of student achievement and personal conduct.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
The ability to build positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues.
A commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
A genuine passion for education and improving life chances for young people.
Desirable
Experience of delivering vocational qualifications with externally assessed units and coursework.
Experience of curriculum development.
Knowledge of safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion within education.
Experience of integrating digital technology into teaching and learning.
Links with local health, social care or community organisations.
