We have an exciting opportunity for a Careers and Progression Advisor to join our dynamic GAP team. We have full-time opportunity available based at our Watford Campus.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, student-focused individual who is passionate about guiding learners towards their future goals. You will play a vital role in helping students make informed decisions about their next steps, whether that's university, apprenticeships, employment, or further training. From delivering engaging group sessions on topics like CV writing and the UCAS process to providing one-to-one careers guidance, you will ensure every student has access to high-quality, impartial support tailored to their individual needs.
The successful candidates should hold, be working towards, or willing to work towards a recognised qualification in careers guidance (e.g. Level 3 or 4 in Careers Guidance and Development or equivalent). Experience of working with young people in an educational setting and knowledge of careers education frameworks such as the Gatsby Benchmarks or Matrix Standard would be highly advantageous.
You will be supported by a high performing team and will work closely with colleagues across curriculum areas, as well as with employers, universities, and community partners to bring careers education to life. Training and development opportunities are embedded in our culture, and you will be encouraged to grow your skills and innovate in your delivery.
These roles will be 37 hours per week.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Inspiring learners to achieve their aspirations through a variety of ways such as : Delivering group sessions to all learners including CV writing, Interview skills and the UCAS process, raising awareness of alternative avenues including apprenticeships and preparing learners for the World of Work and one to one careers advice and guidance sessions
* To ensure individuals understand the range of career routes open to them and how to access the information they need to make informed choices
* Maintain accurate records and students' individual action plans on College systems
* Fully support events such as: Employer talks and events, Open Day events, Course Introduction Meetings, and other marketing initiatives, providing outstanding customer service, at all times
* Supporting with key careers events throughout the year to track and encourage learner attendance and engagement
* Prepare learners for placements and job opportuntiites such as: employer expectations and targets, provide students with joining instructions and gain feedback from the employer and student on their experience
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with a range of stake holders to drive our CEIAG stratergy, increase capacity of On-the-Job training opportunities and Bravura programme
* Utilising Labour Market Information to inform delivery of careers advice
* Support the Head of Careers and Education to meeting CEIAG standards, such as: Matrix, Gatsby and the Careers Quality Standard
* Support with the development and delivery of a range of planned and purposeful career resources and activities that promote internal progression, further training, and employment
* Delivering all elements of the UCAS cycle for all learners, parents and carers, providing effective and timely information, advice and guidance for learners wishing to apply to University.
* Work with curriculum links to promote high levels of upward internal progression between the levels.
* Engage with local schools to raise awareness of the college offering and support available. through assemblies, careers events and Campus tours
* To provide targeted support to promote inclusivity amongst all learners.
