Role Overview:

As a Graduate Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial team in the cost planning, contract administration, and financial management of construction projects. Working under the guidance of experienced professionals, you will play a key role in delivering projects on budget and on schedule while developing core technical skills aligned with RICS APC requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in preparing and managing project budgets, cost plans, and estimates

Support the preparation of tender documentation and procurement processes

Evaluate subcontractor quotations and assist in contract negotiations

Monitor project progress, cost variations, and carry out valuations

Help manage and report on project cash flow and commercial risk

Contribute to the preparation of interim and final payment applications

Participate in site visits and client meetings

Maintain accurate records and assist in the preparation of cost reports

Work collaboratively with project managers, design teams, and contractors

Assist with final accounts and project close-out processes

Requirements:

Essential:

A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline (RICS-accredited preferred)

Strong numerical, analytical, and communication skills

A keen interest in the built environment and cost management

Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel); familiarity with cost estimating software is an advantage

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Willingness to work towards professional chartership (RICS)

Desirable:

Previous industry experience through placement or internship

Familiarity with standard forms of contract (e.g., JCT, NEC)

Understanding of UK construction practices and regulations
