Our client is a leading precision engineering manufacturer supplying components to the Aerospace, Automotive, and Power Generation industries. They are looking for a Graduate Metallurgical Laboratory Technician to join their modern laboratory team, where you'll receive hands-on training while working alongside experienced engineers and metallurgists.

The Role

Working within the Metallurgical Laboratory, you'll support the testing and analysis of materials used in the manufacture of high-performance engineering components. You'll gain experience across a variety of laboratory techniques while helping to ensure products meet demanding industry standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

Carrying out hardness testing and metallurgical analysis
Preparing samples using cutting, mounting, polishing, grinding, and etching equipment
Using optical microscopy to examine material microstructures
Assisting with tensile testing and material investigations
Supporting root cause investigations into material defects
Producing technical reports and maintaining accurate laboratory records
Working closely with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams
Contributing to continuous improvement projects within the laboratoryFull training and ongoing support will be provided.

About You

We're looking for someone with a genuine interest in engineering, materials, and manufacturing who is keen to learn and develop.

Ideally, you'll have:

A degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering/science discipline
A keen interest in laboratory testing and manufacturing
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent attention to detail
Good communication and IT skills
A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
Industrial placement, laboratory experience, or manufacturing experience would be advantageous but is not essential

Monday - Thursday

7:00am - 4:30pm or
7:30am - 4:30pmFriday

7:00am - 12:00pm or
7:30am - 12:30pm
