Graduate) Finance / Health & Safety Assistant
Location: East London
Experience: Recent graduate – 1 year’s experience maximum
An established drylining subcontractor with a turnover of circa £6m is looking to appoint a Finance & Health & Safety Assistant to join their growing team in East London.
This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or junior candidate looking to build a long-term career within construction. The role has been designed to give the successful candidate broad exposure across the business, before allowing them to specialise in either a Commercial or Health & Safety route.
For the first 12 months, the successful candidate will rotate around different areas of the business, gaining an understanding of how a specialist subcontractor operates across finance, commercial, health & safety and construction operations. Following this initial period, they will be placed either into a Commercial or Health & Safety career path based on their strengths and interests.
The Role
* Rotating across different areas of the business during the first 12 months.
* Supporting the finance team with invoices, purchase orders, payments and general financial administration.
* Gaining exposure to commercial processes, including costs, procurement and subcontractor administration.
* Assisting with health & safety documentation, compliance and site administration.
* Supporting the preparation and maintenance of RAMS, training records and H&S documentation.
* Working alongside site and commercial teams to understand the operational side of the business.
* Liaising with subcontractors, suppliers and site teams where required.
* Assisting with audits, compliance checks and general business administration.
* Developing a strong understanding of the financial, commercial and operational performance of a specialist construction subcontractor.
* Working closely with senior members of the business and gaining exposure across multiple departments.
Candidate Requirements
* Recent graduate or up to 1 year’s experience.
* Degree in Health & Safety, Construction, Quantity Surveying or another construction-related discipline, OR a Finance/Accounting-related degree with a genuine interest in construction.
* Strong organisational and administrative skills.
* Good attention to detail and ability to work accurately.
* Confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
* Strong communication skills and a professional approach.
* Genuine interest in the construction industry.
* Ambitious and keen to develop a long-term career within the business.
* Construction experience is not essential for the right graduate
