Contact: Emily Powell or Sammy Messenger – Pearson Whiffin Recruitment

Pearson Whiffin Recruitment is partnering with a highly regulated engineering and technology organisation based in Ashford, seeking a Graduate Engineering Technician to join their on-site technical team on a permanent basis.

This opportunity is ideal for a Physics or Mechanical Engineering graduate who wants far more than a textbook role – offering hands-on testing, real responsibility and genuine long-term career development within a professional engineering environment.

The Role

You will join a small, structured technical team working within a mechanical test laboratory environment. The role focuses on hands-on testing, data capture and technical reporting to support ongoing development and verification activities.

This is a permanent opportunity offering exposure beyond routine testing, with involvement in data analysis, report writing and collaboration with engineers, providing a strong foundation for progression into engineering or related technical disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

Conducting mechanical and functional testing in line with defined procedures.

Recording, analysing and presenting test data using Excel and written reports.

Supporting engineers with development studies, investigations and test programmes.

Building and handling prototype components and test samples.

Maintaining high standards of organisation, accuracy and cleanliness within the lab.

Working collaboratively across technical and operational teams.

Candidate Profile

Degree in Physics, Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.

Strong numerical and analytical skills with confidence handling data.

Competent user of Excel and Word.

Highly organised, methodical and detail-oriented.

Naturally curious with an interest in how mechanical systems work.

Comfortable working fully on-site, five days per week.

Why Apply?

You’ll be joining a business that invests time in developing early-career engineers and technicians.

This role offers:

Exposure to real-world engineering testing, not simulated exercises.

A structured, professional environment with strong technical standards.

Hands-on experience that builds credibility early in your career.

Clear routes into engineering, quality or specialist technical roles over time.

The chance to work on meaningful projects where accuracy and quality genuinely matter.
